The Deal
I received an email from Javhon's counselor the other day telling me that he has been acting up since I left. So I called and talked to Javhon to get his side of the story. While talking to him he said, "Mommy, my head is making my behavior bad, I can't control it." Well that kind of worried me, but then I got to thinking that while I was home Javhon was a great kid and I did not have many problems out of him because he knows I will discipline him. So a few days after I called home again and asked how he was doing. I received good reports from my mom and the bus driver. So when I talked to Javhon on Friday he told me he wanted a bird. So I told Javhon that if he is good until I get home that if mom and the teachers at school and the bus driver can tell me that his behavior has improved then I will get him a bird. No I do not expect him to be good everyday because he is a child but the behavior that he presented a few weeks ago is unacceptable. I called home on Friday and mom told me he has been real good and states he is being good because he wants that bird. So my question to you all is, why do we have to make deals with our children in order for them to behave while we are away?
